SXSW Midnighters Lineup Unveiled

The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival has released its 2012 line-up of Midnighters. A few films are making their world premiere, including: Steven C. Miller’s “The Aggression Scale,” Ciarán Foy’s “CITADEL,” Austin Chick’s “Girls Against Boys,” Joko Anwar’s “Modus Anomali,” Paco Plaza’s “[REC] ³ GENESIS” and Pascal Laugier’s “The Tall Man.” The SXSW has also announced that there will be a secret unannounced screening of a soon to be released feature film. SXSW Senior Programmer & Operations Manager Jarod Neece describes the Midnighters as “…highlights those that go a bit crazier, gorier, and all-around balls out-ier.”

SXSW kicks off with the world premiere of Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s “The Cabin in the Woods” on March 9th and will end on March 17th with Emmett Malloy’s “Big Easy Express.” 132 short films from 3,306 submissions have been announced that will screen as part of 12 short programs. “The shorts selected this year truly maximize the form’s potential,” said Shorts Programmer Claudette Godfrey.
