Renouned Filmmaker Monte Hellman in Person This Week!

Legendary American filmmaker Monte Hellman returns after a 20 year hiatus with his new film Road to Nowhere, opening this Friday, July 22 at the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA.  Starring Tygh Runyan (Snakes on a Plane), Shannyn Sossaman (A Knights Tale) and Cliff De Young (Glory), Road to Nowhere is a contemporary film noir that explores the fine balance between illusion and reality.  Runyan stars as Mitchell, a young hotshot director who becomes obsessed with his leading lady (Sossaman).

On Saturday, July 23, Hellman will be at the Smith Rafael for screenings of his 1966 film The Shooting at 4:30 p.m. and Road to Nowhere at 7:15 p.m., to discuss and celebrate his illustrious career with Monte Hellman: On the Road Again. The Rafael will also be showing two of Hellman’s other films Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) on Sunday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. and Ride in the Whirlwind (1966) on Monday, July 25, at 7:00 p.m. as part of the career retrospective.
