New Film, Life Above All, from Director of Paris Je T’aime Released Today

From the director of Paris Je T’aime, Olivier Schmitz, and writer Dennis Foon comes Life Above All, a new dramatic film out this today, Friday July 15th. The film was screened in the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and was selected as the South African entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2011 Academy Awards.

The film is adapted from the novel Chanda’s Secrets by Alan Stratton. It tells the story of a young girl, Chanda (Khomotso Manyaka), who’s world is turned upside down when an HIV/AIDS epidemic breaks out in her village. Her mother soon becomes ill, and Chanda must fight the alienation of her community.
